Calculate Your Exact Age in Seconds

Knowing that you are “28” is easy. Knowing that you are 28 years, 4 months and 19 days old on a specific date takes a little more work — months have different lengths and leap years add extra days. This age calculator does that counting for you and also shows your age in total months, days and hours.

People use it for very practical reasons: checking eligibility for competitive exams, filling in application forms that ask for age on a specific date, finding a child’s exact age for school admission, or simply for fun before a birthday.

How to Use the Age Calculator

  1. Date of Birth: pick your birth date from the calendar.
  2. Calculate Age At: this is set to today by default. Change it to any past or future date if you need your age on a particular day.
  3. Your age appears immediately in years, months and days, followed by the total in months and days, total days and total hours.

How Age is Calculated

The method is the same one you would use with a calendar and a pencil:

  1. Count the number of complete years between your birth date and the target date.
  2. From your last birthday, count the complete months.
  3. Count the remaining days. If the day of the month is smaller than your birth day, borrow the number of days in the previous month.

Example

Date of birth: 15 June 1998. Target date: 16 October 2026.

  • From 15 June 1998 to 15 June 2026 = 28 complete years.
  • From 15 June 2026 to 15 October 2026 = 4 complete months.
  • From 15 October to 16 October = 1 day.

Exact age: 28 years, 4 months and 1 day.

Age Limits for Common Exams and Purposes in India

These are typical limits for general category candidates. Always check the latest official notification, as limits, cut-off dates and relaxations change.

PurposeTypical age requirement
UPSC Civil Services21–32 years (as on 1 August of the exam year)
SSC CGL18–32 years, varies by post
Bank PO (IBPS / SBI)20–30 years
Voting18 years
Driving licence (car)18 years
Class 1 admission (NEP guideline)6 years

Reserved categories usually get relaxation — for example, 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST in many central government exams. Set the target date to the exact cut-off date in the notification to get a reliable answer.

Interesting Ways to Use It

  • Milestone days: find out when you turn 10,000 days old (about 27 years and 4½ months).
  • Age difference: enter the elder person’s date of birth and set the target date to the younger person’s date of birth.
  • Pet age: track how many months and days old your pet is.
  • Anniversaries: use a wedding or joining date instead of a birth date to count years of marriage or service.
For official purposes, the date of birth on your Class 10 certificate, birth certificate or Aadhaar is what counts. Make sure you enter the same date.

Frequently Asked Questions

The calculator counts complete years from your date of birth to the target date, then the complete months after your last birthday, and finally the remaining days. It uses the real length of each calendar month, including leap years.
Yes. Change the "Calculate Age At" date to any date. This is useful for checking your age on an exam's cut-off date, on a job application deadline, or on a future birthday.
Enter your date of birth and set the target date to the cut-off date given in the official notification, often 1 January or 1 August of the exam year. Compare the result with the minimum and maximum age limits, and remember that reserved categories may get age relaxation.
In non-leap years there is no 29 February, so a leap-day birthday is usually celebrated on 28 February or 1 March. For a legal age on a specific date, follow the rule used by the authority concerned, and check the result here using both dates if you need to be sure.
Because leap years add an extra day every four years. Someone who is exactly 30 years old has lived about 10,957 days, not 10,950, since roughly seven or eight leap days fall in that period.
